In this discussion video we didn't just discuss the plan of the short film but we also discussed the final idea and so for that reason this would be a discussion video and a final ideas video in one.

Camera settings
Manuel mode controls:
Aperture is the lens diaphragm which opens inside of a photogenic lens and the size of the diaphragm opening in a camera lens regulates amount of light passes through onto the film inside the camera the moment when the shutter curtain in the camera opens during the exposure process. F stop is the aperture opening of a camera lens and this allows light to come in.
Pull focus techniques the focus pull (AKA rack focus) is a creative camera technique in which you change focus during a shot. Usually this means adjusting the focus from one subject to another.
Depth of field in cinematography is the distance between the nearest and furthest objects giving a focused image.
For the types of camera lens there is a standard lens which has a focus length of 42mm. This is used to capture regular pictures and videos.
We then move on to a wide angle lens and the wide angle lens has a focus length which is substantially smaller then the focus length on a normal lens. These are mainly used to capture landscapes and architecture because it enables users to capture alot in one shot. It would be used in a film if they are trying to show a building which the actor may be in.
Telephoto is a type of long focus lens where the physical length of the lens itself is shorter then the focus length. In terms of film you would use a telephoto lens for capturing animals, wildlife and even sporting events. The effect is to successfully take photos at moderate to far distances.
Macro is a type of lens used to photograph and capture small items and object at very close distances. This is because they focus better then normal lenses. It would be used to capture small insects on leafs and to capture small living organisms. The effect is to enhance the vision of a capture image which enables users to gain a greater depth of detail. Here are some images using a macro lens.

fish eye lense is a wide angle lens which is primarily used to capture a strong visual distortion which gives a panoramic view. In film it would be used to capture scenes in 180 degrees and is often used in retro skateboarding clips. The effect is to make scenes feel gritty and distorted.

use of exposure:
Shutter speed is the length of time where the film/ sensor inside of the camera is exposed to any form of light whether your filming outside in natural lighting or even inside in artificial lighting. This would often be used to blur a moving image for effect.
Iso is used to measure the sensitivity of the image sensor. By choosing a high iso you would have a faster shutter speed and choosing a low iso means you would have a slightly slower shutter speed. This would often be used to capture any image in various details.\
creating light trails is using a effect which essentially creates colourful images which creates long exposure on the camera. it would be used to capture anything which has alot of colour thats its effect.
frame rates for different effect
25 fps is a frame rate and this is the number of individual frames or images that are displayed per second. Fps is usually at its best when playing video games because thats when the frame rate needs to be accurate in order for users to have the best gaming experience.
Higher fps again would mainly be used in video games such as open world , tactical shooters and battle royales because this is when users need to be able to identify enemies or just be able to see clearly so the higher the frame rate the more crips the video is.
Lower fps would be used for television or movie streaming because even though users need high definition to watch their favourite shows. They are not co operating with any programmes as you would be with video games they are just watching them to frame rates would be considerably lower.

Past work short films
Here I analysed previous students media short films and we identified what was successful about the films and what did not go so well for the film. The title is in the left column which displays the name of the film and in the middle and right column I talked about what went well and what could have gone better if they could have done anything better. For most of them there was a plot twist and that showed that they were co operative with the syllabus because they used the conventions. There was a few films that were too stereotypical and repetitive however overall there was a lot of successful conventions that were used.
Conventions of short films analysis
Here I have analysed three short films by adding screen grabs and information as to what is going on in the pictures and this is to help me to understand how specific scenes have to be conducted
Mobius:
Here at the beginning of the short film Mobius we see a man lying on the floor. to have this at the very beginning of the short film would be engaging for the audience. So automatically it has a positive impact on viewers as they would be intrigued to see what is going on and how the man ended up there. the director has used this effectively by placing it the beginning as it keeps viewers engaged.
Here is the second screen grab that shows some sort of a skeleton on the side of the road and this is interesting because it implies to the viewers that the characters are out in the middle of nowhere and this is effective as it is also is engaging for the audience. In terms of the conventions used I would say it is abstract creativity because the director has showed viewers just how horrific the scene could be. There could also be a slight link between the skull and the car with the idea that the driver could be travelling to their doom.
Here we can see the jeep is following another vehicle and this is at the start of Mobius and this is engaging for viewers because they get to see the scene and in the scene with the added sound effects the chase is full of tension. The director has used this scene very effectively because they try to convey as much tension and action as they can throughout the chase by providing different camera angles for viewers.
This takes place at 3:50 of the video which is at
middle of the short film and here we see the main character trying to take pictures of criminals who are about the kill a person and this is also a scene full of tension because the added sound effects makes it engaging. The man is also at risk of being caught filming by the criminals.

This is when the protagonist tries to escape the antagonist as he has been caught trying to film the shooting and now has to face the consequences as he has been caught. He is at risk o being shot by the criminals and with all added effects the scenes is yet again full of tension which is effective as viewers would want to watch on to see what happens.
This is a image of the technician who is arriving to a old persons house to come and fix his television and this is at the beginning of the short film "The technician" and this is interesting as it shows you what the short film will be about.
What is done well with this short film is the storyline because in terms of conventions there is a great twist which is unexpected in the short film. This is great because it makes the audience engaged.
Here we can see that the technician is asked by an elderly man to fix his television now there is no real technical difficulty however the Tv seems to keep on playing news channels which showcase horrific scenes which are occurring all over the world. The technician is then asked to fix what is happening and after taking a look behind the television and even on the roof there is still nothing he can do so he promptly begins to get in is van and drive away. When the elderly man sees him driving away he may have thought that the technician could have done nothing to help but this is where the director has used a great effect to engage the audience because later in the short film we see that the elderly man is in awe as he stares at the screen. On the screen you can see the technician saving everyone fro fatalities and rescuing people which is what is so fascinating to watch. The technician even finds a cure for cancer! so the director has made a good use of a twist in the storyline which has paid off and been really effective for viewers.

conventions of a short film sheet
Here I analysed a short film called tick which was about the struggles a lower class individual has to endure when living with little to no income in London. I have used a variety of different conventions because the short film itself was filled with various conventions such as the fact that it was appealing to a niche audience meaning that the film itself would probably not appeal to upper class individuals as they wont find the struggle that the man and his family in the short film have to go through relatable. However this being said a lot of individuals will find this relatable.
